Repair Cafe, Othy Willis

Othy’s practice centres on repair as a relational, embodied process—dissecting, tending, and hybridising materials with care. Rooted in the intergenerational space of the Repair Cafe and expanded into Kandos, their work invites reverence for the overlooked. Using discarded objects, traditional techniques, and slow, meditative labour, Othy reveals the cultural and geological intensity within everyday materials. This residency deepens their decolonising methodology, developed in dialogue with Indigenous and settler allies, and culminates in a reflective field guide. Through strategic consultation and making, they explore how repair can shift worldviews—toward tenderness, reciprocity, and connection with the systems we’re part of.
